Out of Hibernation

Michael came out from his sewing room hibernation today! It was a beautiful day - a bit chilly with temperatures in the 50s, partly cloudy with a few sun breaks and just a few very minor sprinkles. The garden is waking up fast. I love this time of year. The trees are just leafing out,  so when the sun does appear, there is a dappled scattering of sunrays dancing throughout the garden. The birds are singing and busy flitting about building their nests. In these crazy times, this is the only place where I feel totally calm and at ease and can filter out life's unpleasantries. We got a lot done today. Yesterday was even nicer with warmer temps and more sun. I got the tarps off the decks, statues and water features. Today was spent mostly cleaning up, more planting and moving pots around. Hidden Hills Garden blog


I'd like to introduce you to a new Alabama garden blog called "Hidden Hills Garden". Peggy Hill, who lives on Smith Lake, is a writer for Alabama Gardener and Smith Lake Living magazines. On her blog she describes herself as "a full time, garden obsessed, crazy gardener" and I was pleased when I read that when she watches tv, she is more interested in what is going on in the landscape than with the characters. I thought I was the only crazy person who did this! I had the pleasure of meeting Peggy last week when she and her garden group came to visit my garden. She has a post about their visit and she will be writing about Maria Wall's garden on her next entry. I hope you will take a look at her blog, I think you will enjoy it!

    I just popped over to read her post about your garden. I loved seeing someone else's view of your garden. I have been reading your blog for a long time and she showed me things I have never seen. What fun. Don't you think it is fun to see what catches the eye of the beholder? It makes one look at their own garden in a new way.

    funny you should say that about watching tv. I'll often try to figure out where something is filmed just by looking at the plant material. I guess we have issues. lol.

    I tried to leave them a message, but got a message I had to log on and it kept saying my wordpress id was valid (also did it on yours). Nice blog.

    I thought I was the only one who has HGTV #1 on favorites list. My Japanese iris have started blooming. Several blooming for the first time. Daylilies are popping open everywhere. Mary
