Autumn Leaves
'Dancing Peacock' Someone needs to write a song... :) With an atmospheric river and 30 mph winds predicted this past weekend, I was afraid the ginkgo, which had just started to turn color, would be stripped. We were lucky though and it remains intact. Gingko 'Princeton Sentry' After the storm... The Black Tupelo (Nyssa slyvatica) changes color from the inside out - The above photo was taken last week. Here it is today - 'Wolf Eyes' Dogwood (Cornus kousa) has never had such pink color - Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea', Crape Myrtle 'Dynamite' ( Lagerstroemia ), and Persian Ironwood ( Parrotia persica ) - Japanese Maple 'Beni Hime' - Serviceberry 'Autumn Brilliance' ( Amelanchier ) with tree peonies - Stewartia pyschocamellia starts the color show early. It has since faded to a much softer color - Text and photos by Phillip Oliver, Dirt Therapy

Summer is so good in the PNW. The lush green is mind blowing. Totally took that in stride growing up there, now I find it unbelievable. Beautiful gardens, that's so great you had time to get away and see them. With all the planning you had going on!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Thank you so much for sharing! Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada.
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful gardens. You're lucky to live in an area where so many people value their gardens.
ReplyDeleteMust have been Garden Walk weekend, what a delight to see so many treasures! I assume the third photo down is the majestic weeping beech? It’s quite mystifying though, does it have red flowers?
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a chance to go through my photos from the weekend yet, so this was a refreshing review of what we've seen. Nice to see what caught your eye at each of these gardens.
