June Blooms
After a hot weekend, more pleasant weather has settled in and the long-term forecast shows consistent temperatures in the 70s. That is music to my ears, I just hope it lasts. We have been busy with the usual garden chores. Michael has been more adventurous than I and he created a small set of steps leading up to our shady path. He said he had been wanting to do that for a long time but didn't because of it making it difficult to move the lawnmower up to the top level. Well, we now have a battery-powered mower, a very lightweight, tiny thing which makes both of us happy. The steps are almost finished, just some more gravel needed to top them - Our new battery-powered lawnmower looks like a toy - In the garden - Autumn Fern ( Dryopteris erythrosora) is just spectacular right now. My favorite fern. Aruncus 'Horatio' has doubled in size this year and threatens to overshadow the shade garden. Baptisia 'Solar Flare' blooms after 'Purple Smoke' Jasmine 'Fiona...
Gorgeous blooms ! And your garden is looking great . Happy Bloom Day !
ReplyDeleteI adore Pan the showgirl's headdress! Michael got it soooo right. All your flowers this time of year are glorious. I saw your photo of Crocosmia Dragonfire on Instagram and just thought "Wow! Gotta get some of that!"
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDelete'Golden Celebration' is a lovely rose, and I need 'Buzz Hot Raspberry' to go with my other Buddleias! ( I have a white one and a bluish-purple one)
Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!
I love it all but Pan's headdress is pretty spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your oppressive heat! It's warm here but we're always a few degrees cooler in the summer/warmer in the winter than PDX. Your garden looks fantastic. Kudos to Michael for watering so diligently, it really shows. Pan's headdress is over the top fabulous! Love it! My 'Royal Purple' Smoke tree never gets flowers that red, they're just sort of the same color as the foliage. Do you do something special to get that amazing color?
ReplyDeletePeter, I have not done anything special to it. It does get all-day sun and no shade whatsoever. Maybe that is it?
DeleteGosh Phillip your garden is abloom for sure. That first photo is a knockout. I love that yellow rose. My favorite color of rose. They are so cheerful. Michael deserves a medal for watering during this dry spell.
ReplyDeletePan's headdress - is the winner! Wow! Happy GBBD! Stay cool in this heat. It's oppressive :(
ReplyDeleteOh how I love 'Silk Road' ! My clump has experienced shrinkage the last couple of years so digging up , dividing, adding new bulbs if need be will be a project . I must say Pan looks fetching !
ReplyDeleteBoo hiss is right... I really HATE this heat! Michael is doing a bang up job keeping the garden alive - it is all looking smashing! I absolutely love Pan's headdress - just glorious! Happy Bloom Day to you both, and fingers crossed for a drop in temps soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your hot weather. We may break some records here in Texas this week. Good time. Your garden looks amazing even with the oppressive weather. Happy Bloom Day! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Everything looks so lush and healthy and happy. Love that Hydrangea 'Tiny Tuff Stuff' and the orange St. John's wort. I am totally getting into orange so probably should check it out. And yes, Pan is looking very showgirl , but I was thinking Carmen Miranda!
ReplyDeleteYou are right Linda!
DeleteHow pretty all of the blooms ...never heard of smoke tree that is weirdly beautiful...the last shot of Garden mural is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week
