Autumn Leaves
'Dancing Peacock' Someone needs to write a song... :) With an atmospheric river and 30 mph winds predicted this past weekend, I was afraid the ginkgo, which had just started to turn color, would be stripped. We were lucky though and it remains intact. Gingko 'Princeton Sentry' After the storm... The Black Tupelo (Nyssa slyvatica) changes color from the inside out - The above photo was taken last week. Here it is today - 'Wolf Eyes' Dogwood (Cornus kousa) has never had such pink color - Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea', Crape Myrtle 'Dynamite' ( Lagerstroemia ), and Persian Ironwood ( Parrotia persica ) - Japanese Maple 'Beni Hime' - Serviceberry 'Autumn Brilliance' ( Amelanchier ) with tree peonies - Stewartia pyschocamellia starts the color show early. My favorite place! I go here every year and buy a car load!
ReplyDeleteWithout looking at your list I bet it is a mile long. What an inspirational place.
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to live where there are so many fabulous nurseries! Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteI would take any of them (all of them?) I struggle with peonies to have 3 blooms. I bet you will be stopping in there again?

Wow, love those! Beautiful photos, too.
ReplyDeletePeonies are blooming in my garden right now. What lovely blooms! Looking at your pictures makes me want to add more plants!
ReplyDeleteHi Phillip. You sure picked a gorgeous day to visit these two places. I love all that color. I wanted to answer your question on Clematis 'Multi-Blue'. For me, it has not been very vigorous. Have you considered 'Polish Spirit'? For me, it has been by far the most vigorous of all my clematis. Good luck with your selection. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteI have read that "Polish Spirit" is a really good one for this area. Thank you Grace!
DeleteGorgeous! I have one peony and it didn't bloom this year. I think our crazy weather may be the culprit.
ReplyDeleteAntique roses and now peonies! With all the tempting nurseries in your area, your garden is going to be a show-stopper! I planted a couple of Shirley Temple peonies this year, my first.
