Autumn Leaves
'Dancing Peacock' Someone needs to write a song... :) With an atmospheric river and 30 mph winds predicted this past weekend, I was afraid the ginkgo, which had just started to turn color, would be stripped. We were lucky though and it remains intact. Gingko 'Princeton Sentry' After the storm... The Black Tupelo (Nyssa slyvatica) changes color from the inside out - The above photo was taken last week. Here it is today - 'Wolf Eyes' Dogwood (Cornus kousa) has never had such pink color - Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea', Crape Myrtle 'Dynamite' ( Lagerstroemia ), and Persian Ironwood ( Parrotia persica ) - Japanese Maple 'Beni Hime' - Serviceberry 'Autumn Brilliance' ( Amelanchier ) with tree peonies - Stewartia pyschocamellia starts the color show early. Beautiful gardens!! Thank you for sharing, Phillip.
ReplyDeleteI love these kinds of gardens where you feel enveloped by plants. All the "things" in the garden make it fun too. I love the mosaic rugs in the last garden. I wish I had patience and the know how to make one.
ReplyDeleteWow! Love these gardens, especially the pebble mosaics. The sense of enclosure and being surrounded by cool plants and awesome garden art makes me smile! Thanks for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteDeborah Myers has an incredible sense of plant combinations and her bamboo grove is gorgeous. Nancy Goldman's garden is full of whimsy and creativity. I love the mosaic pebble rug. Visitors who wouldn't wipe their shoes on the rug, had to take them off; hence the collection of planted-shoe rack.
ReplyDeleteI first discovered these gardens on a walk, then later was able to visit them during an HPSO Open Garden. Such fun! I'm sorry to have missed them this year.
ReplyDeleteTwo amazing gardens! I particularly like the mosaic paths, etc.
ReplyDeleteSophisticated and elegant.
ReplyDeleteTextures and dark greens seem to be the themes.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is stunning!!
