The Garden House (Devon, England)

The destinations are beginning to blur but looking at the tour guide booklet, I see that we are now in Plymouth. Today, we visited two gardens designed by Keith Wiley.  The first is The Garden House , where Wiley worked as Head Gardener for 25 years (from 1978-2003). The 10-acre estate was purchased in the 1940s by former Eton schoolmaster Lionel Fortescue and his wife Katherine. It was formerly home to the  vicars of Buckland Monachronum. Foliage Follow-up is hosted by Pam at Digging and is a follow-up to Bloom Day. Everything is greening up nicely here despite the fact that we are notably behind on rainfall.

Physocarpus opulifolius 'Amber Jubilee' (Ninebark)

We have two Ninebarks in the garden. The other is 'Coppertina' and it is covered with a white powdery substance that I figure is powdery mildew. I plan to get out and do something for it later this week.

  5. You have a gorgeous selection of conifers. The Buckthorn 'Fine Line' has been on my wish list for a while. I just love how airy it is and it has nice bark too.
