'Dancing Peacock' Someone needs to write a song... :) With an atmospheric river and 30 mph winds predicted this past weekend, I was afraid the ginkgo, which had just started to turn color, would be stripped.  We were lucky though and it remains intact. Gingko 'Princeton Sentry' After the storm... The Black Tupelo (Nyssa slyvatica) changes color from the inside out - The above photo was taken last week. Here it is today - 'Wolf Eyes' Dogwood (Cornus kousa) has never had such pink color - Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea', Crape Myrtle 'Dynamite' ( Lagerstroemia ), and Persian Ironwood ( Parrotia persica ) - Japanese Maple 'Beni Hime' - Serviceberry 'Autumn Brilliance' ( Amelanchier ) with tree peonies - Stewartia pyschocamellia starts the color show early. Garden Blogger's Bloom Day for July 2018

The past week has been hot and dry with no relief in sight. Boo hiss! The garden is doing fine, thanks to diligent watering by Michael. The above shot was taken in the Pan Garden, off the deck in back. From left to right is Baby's Breath (Gypsophila), Agastache Giant Blue Hyssop, Bee Balm 'Raspberry Wine', Veronica 'Marietta', Achillea 'Song Siren Little Susie', Climbing rose 'Iceberg' and Buddleia 'Lo & Behold Blue Chip Jr.'.

And finally, Pan's headdress - Michael's desire for it to look like a Las Vegas showgirl headdress is planted with Amaranthus caudatus (Love Lies Bleeding), Celosia 'Intenz', Martha Washington geraniums and Creeping Jenny.

    I adore Pan the showgirl's headdress! Michael got it soooo right. All your flowers this time of year are glorious. I saw your photo of Crocosmia Dragonfire on Instagram and just thought "Wow! Gotta get some of that!"

    'Golden Celebration' is a lovely rose, and I need 'Buzz Hot Raspberry' to go with my other Buddleias! ( I have a white one and a bluish-purple one)

    Sorry about your oppressive heat! It's warm here but we're always a few degrees cooler in the summer/warmer in the winter than PDX. Your garden looks fantastic. Kudos to Michael for watering so diligently, it really shows. Pan's headdress is over the top fabulous! Love it! My 'Royal Purple' Smoke tree never gets flowers that red, they're just sort of the same color as the foliage. Do you do something special to get that amazing color?

      Peter, I have not done anything special to it. It does get all-day sun and no shade whatsoever. Maybe that is it?

    Gosh Phillip your garden is abloom for sure. That first photo is a knockout. I love that yellow rose. My favorite color of rose. They are so cheerful. Michael deserves a medal for watering during this dry spell.

    Oh how I love 'Silk Road' ! My clump has experienced shrinkage the last couple of years so digging up , dividing, adding new bulbs if need be will be a project . I must say Pan looks fetching !

    Oh my! Everything looks so lush and healthy and happy. Love that Hydrangea 'Tiny Tuff Stuff' and the orange St. John's wort. I am totally getting into orange so probably should check it out. And yes, Pan is looking very showgirl , but I was thinking Carmen Miranda!
