Falmouth & St. Ives (England)

Continuing my England trip (I'm almost finished!), I realized that I haven't shared many photos of the towns. Actually, we were on a strict schedule and there wasn't much time to just walk around and linger, but we did have some extra time in Falmouth.

I loved this town and I especially loved the seaside hotel where we stayed. I lucked out and got a room overlooking the harbor -

Some of the views from my windows -

The restaurant in the hotel was excellent and we enjoyed several meals here -

I learned that there was a post office down the street and decided to go there to mail some postcards. (It turns out the cost of mailing a postcard to the U.S. was astronomical and since I had about a dozen to mail, I decided to skip it). I did enjoy the walk though. Most of it was right along the seaside, where there were mostly apartments and residences -

Then the street narrowed quite a bit and both sides were lined with quaint little shops -

Our last stop before heading to Barnstaple was the picturesque village of St. Ives. This little town along a harbor was lined with narrow, cobblestone streets with restaurants, bars,  shops, and art galleries. It was very touristy and crowded -

I kicked myself later for not going in this shop. What was I thinking? -

I had lunch with one of the other travelers in a restaurant that overlooked the beach. -

This was a unique experience, unlike any place we saw. It reminded me of what a French or Italian seaside village must be like.

It looks lovely. I'd have been happy strolling the town itself for a few days too. Small towns aren't something I'm used to!

What a fabulous room with a spectacular view! This town looks so fun, great you had a little time "off" there. The food looks delicious.
